The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s a space that is used daily and is a gathering place for family and friends. It’s where memories are made. As a space that is utilized so frequently, having a kitchen that works for your lifestyle and one that you truly love is so important.
For our latest kitchen renovation, we transformed our client’s dark, dated kitchen into a bright, airy space while still working for their lifestyle. All while being very budget-friendly, we created a space they love and are excited to spend time in. All under $13,000!
Our client’s goal was to create a kitchen space that felt cozy but up-to-date. Their previous kitchen still had the popcorn ceilings, the 2010 red, and wood floors that clashed.
To keep costs as low as possible, and to help complete the project on a shorter timeline, we decided to utilize as many features of the original kitchen as possible. In the end, we decided to keep the cabinets, flooring, and appliances. Since their functionality was still great, simple cosmetic updates were applied to cabinets and allowed us to stay under budget.
To give the oven area a refresh, we opted to install a new stainless steel hood. This came in at $350 and instantly gave the kitchen a more modern feel.
When we started the renovation, the first thing we did was select a paint color scheme. The hardwood floors were the main component we wanted to work around, we didn’t want any orange or red tones to be pulled. We went with Pure White by Sherwin-Williams for the walls which has a super neutral undertone, allowing it to not look yellow.
For the cabinets, if you know me, you know my go-to color: Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams.
Accessible Beige is one of my all-time favorite paint colors. It’s the warmest grey out there with undertones that work well in a variety of spaces. See it in action in this vintage-inspired toddler bedroom!
Once the cabinets were painted (and the new sink was installed), we had these stunning countertops installed. The quartz is extremely durable and with a white base with soft wisps of deep grey veining, the countertops have an elevated, distinct look. For all of the materials we used in the space, the countertops were the most expensive and came in at a total of $4,500.
The original kitchen didn’t have a backsplash and we knew right away we wanted to add one during the renovation. We used this glazed ceramic tile, which looks beautiful with both the wall and cabinet colors. Simply adding the backsplash to the space really tied all of the details together and was a low-cost project totaling $300 for all materials.
I not only love this tile for its affordable price but the greige, taupes, and creams complement each other so well. Giving a timeless, organic modern look. It’s no wonder it has gone viral on social media recently. So if you happen to be in search of a tile similar to this – be sure and grab it while it is still in stock!!
This tile, this tile, and this tile (all from the same brand!) are also great options if this one isn’t in stock.
Over the last few years, black and gold accents have been extremely popular but for this space, we wanted finishes that were a little more timeless. To achieve this look, we opted for bronze! These cabinet pulls and this faucet are the perfect duo.
To continue the cozy detailing throughout the space, we added in this semi-flush mount light as the main kitchen lighting. For over the sink, we added in this pendant light. The bronze detailing helps pull together the rest of the kitchen details and the glass bell shade helps to filter in light from the window.
Together, the lighting and knobs came in at $350.
Before the renovation, the client had a rectangular table that simply overcrowded this space. This table and these chairs were the perfect choice! They help tie together the wood floors, bronze details, and airy space so well. Behind the table, we installed this framed canvas painting.
This renovation truly enhanced this beautiful kitchen space and gave it that cozy feeling that makes you feel instantly at home. For under $13,000, our clients were able to achieve a space they are excited about and will work for their lifestyle for years to come.
